Job Description

POSITION SUMMARY:
Rappahannock Goodwill Industries (RGI) is searching for  Full Time Evening C ustodians -for MCB-Quantico 3:00 PM - 11:00 PM shift to join our team. The role under the Federal AbilityOne Custodial Services contract is centered around general office cleaning, building maintenance, restroom sanitation, trash removal, and floor care in designated office areas and facilities at Quantico Marine Base. This position is suitable for individuals with significant disabilities and offers a supportive, ADA-compliant work environment.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES:
  • Vacuums, sweeps, and mops office areas, kitchens and restrooms.
  • Cleans, disinfects, and restocks restroom supplies and replenishes hand soap and paper products.
  • Collects and disposes of trash, replaces trash liners, and wipes down trash receptacles from designated areas.
  • Transports garbage bags and other waste to outside dumpsters and trash compactors.
  • Cleans and maintains various floor surfaces, including tile, carpet, and hard flooring.
  • Cleans windows, mirrors, door handles, switch plates, and partitions.
  • Polishes and cleans dust and dirt from furniture, ceiling, walls, overhead pipes and fixtures.
  • Reports needed repairs of equipment to supervisors as necessary.
  • Assures custodial closets are clean, orderly, and stocked, and informs the supervisors of needed supplies and equipment.
  • Adheres to all RGI, Marine Base safety guidelines, and Federal AbilityOne standards.
  • Assists with loading cleaning supplies.
  • Communicate effectively with team members and supervisors regarding work progress and facility issues.
  • Must have consistent and dependable transportation to and from work and be able to maintain acceptable attendance.
  • Other duties as assigned

POSITION REQUIREMENS:

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Must be able to communicate in English using basic communication skills sufficient to understand work instructions and interact with team members.
  • Must be able to pass a drug test and an extensive background check administered by the US Government to access federal facilities.

  • Must be able to safely operate a variety of custodial equipment vacuums, mops and buckets, brooms and dustpans, dusting and surface cleaning tools, window cleaning and waste management equipment, and cleaning carts.
  • If applicable, must have a documented, significant disability that qualifies under the AbilityOne program.
  • Must be able to read instructions and mix and use various custodial chemicals and general cleaning supplies.
  • Must be flexible and able to work productively to accomplish multiple tasks.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • High school diploma, GED, or equivalent work experience.
  • Previous experience in office cleaning, building maintenance, or facility upkeep.
  • Experience working collaboratively in a diverse team environment.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

  • Mobility: Must be able to move safely around various work areas, including walking between offices and hallways in and around the worksite.
  • Lifting Requirements: Must be able to lift objects up to 25 lbs. with or without assistance, including a vacuum cleaner backpack weighing approximately 15 lbs.
  • Posture & Movements: Must be able to stand for extended periods, standing, bending, and reaching to perform cleaning and maintenance tasks. Must also be able to climb ladders, stairs and step stools, push or pull objects such as vacuums, carts, mops and other cleaning tools.
  • Manual Dexterity: Must be able to handle cleaning tools, operate equipment, and perform detailed cleaning tasks with both hands.
  • Vision Requirements: Sufficient vision to identify cleaning needs, read instructions, and monitor work quality. Use of corrective lenses or assistive visual devices is acceptable.
  • Travel: Constant travel between workstations and common areas within the facility is expected; the layout supports accessibility needs. Must also have consistent and dependable transportation to and from work
  • Communication: Must be able to understand and follow verbal and written instructions.

WORKING CONDITIONS:

  • May occasionally be exposed to dust and odors.
  • Use of personal protective equipment (PPE) as required by safety protocols.
  • Primarily indoor work (90%) in office and facility areas with occasional outdoor exposure (10%) in maintenance areas.
  • Potential working on a mobile crew cleaning several buildings with outdoors exposure to heat and cold.
  • Routine exposure to cleaning chemicals and cleaning equipment; all products used will be handled in accordance with safety guidelines.
  • Potential exposure to Blood Born Pathogens.
  • Security: Must comply with all Quantico Marine Base security protocols and regulations.
