CRH Americas Northwest Region has an opportunity for a paid internship program where the Mining Engineering Intern will work with current staff to learn how to develop mining and reclamation plans, support mine permitting, and resource development. You’ll play an integral part as we stand together to reinvent the way our world is built.

The selected candidate for this position can be based out of the Willamette Valley Region (OR), Tri-Cities Region (Central WA), or the Spokane/CDA Area (WA & Northern ID).
Wage: $25.00 - $30.00/hr DOE with Potential for Overtime
Key Responsibilities (Essential Duties and Functions)
Assist with developing and reviewing mine plans and processes.
Work with team members on the permitting and design, review and modification of reclamation plans.
Work in aggregate resource development, reserve and reclamation analysis, including end of life planning.
Coordinate with local operations teams to develop short-range production plans.
Utilize information from permits, site conditions, and geologic investigations to develop pit shells and long- range mine plans.
Assess permit compliance based on field observations and survey data and develop plans to ensure compliance during resource development.
Ensure that CRH is the Preferred Source and an industry-leader in the area served by the business unit.
Promote an inclusive work environment.
Safety of all personnel working within the business unit.
Environmental stewardship of sites in the business unit.
Travel to regional facilities.
Other duties as assigned per supervisor.
Qualifications
Education/Experience
Currently enrolled in Mining or related engineering program.
Understands geologic resource reports and estimate mining reserves.
Work Requirements
Must be 18 years in age or older.
Must pass pre-employment physical, drug screen, background check and have a clean driving record.
Strict adherence to safety requirements and procedures as outlined in the Employee Handbook.
May include limited travel within the Pacific Northwest.
Must have the ability to work without close supervision.
Strong communication skills.
Strong math, analytical and problem-solving skills.
Ability to multi-task and prioritize workloads in a fast-paced environment.
Self-motivated, ability to achieve desired results without constant supervision.
Excellent computer skills (Power Point, Word, Excel)
Capable of utilizing the internet effectively for research and evaluation.
Highly developed verbal and written communication skills and an ability to work with management.
Ability to communicate with others and to assimilate and understand information in a manner consistent with the essential job functions.
Experience with mine planning software or modeling and competency with the Office suite of computer applications.
Demonstrate effective skills in dealing with employees at all levels.
Willingness to work in a team environment and assist co-workers or supervisors with other duties as required.
Preferred Qualifications
Basic Mining knowledge preferred, previous environmental or geology experience a plus.
Travel
Travel expected within the Region – costs reimbursable by the company

Work Environment
While performing the duties of this Job, the employee will be exposed to wet, dry, and/or humid conditions; moving mechanical parts; outside weather conditions; extreme cold and extreme heat. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
