Position: Junior Data Engineer
Description:
As a Junior Data Engineer, Intelligence & Operations at Torch.AI, you will be at the forefront of building scalable data solutions within and across Torch.AI’s platform capabilities. You will design and implement robust data pipelines, systems, and processes to ingest, transform, and store data efficiently, enabling critical insights and operational effectiveness across U.S. defense and national security programs and projects.
Your code will integrate elegant user experiences with unmatched back-end data processing capabilities by implementing responsive designs, optimizing application performance, and integrating with complex backend services and APIs. You will have the opportunity to harden and scale existing platform capabilities, tools, and technologies, while also working to innovate and introduce new iterative capabilities and features.
The workflow will vary, adapting to customer and technical requirements. You’ll work autonomously while driving coordinated, collaborative decisions across cross-functional product development teams of defense and national security experts, veterans, and experienced AI and ML software engineers.
Requirements: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field. 1+ years of experience in software development, operations, or data engineering.
Knowledge of Java programming language required; Python is a plus. Familiarity with RESTful services, JSON parsing and querying.
Understanding of Big Data technologies and processing large-scale datasets. Knowledge of ETL, APIs, Spark, Kafka, Airflow is a plus.
Understanding of NiFi concepts for flow management, control files, and system interoperability.
Basic familiarity with cloud storage and compute services such as AWS S3 and EC2.
Ability to translate data between various formats and develop data models and analytics to meet mission requirements.
Ability to collaborate closely with Product Management, UI Designers, and Back-End Engineers.
Support for test service artifacts for accuracy and performance. Experience with Pulls and command for performance.
Minimum Secret level security clearance preferred (sponsorship available).
Interest in defense intelligence industry, entrepreneurial mindset, collaborative capability, and awareness of ethical and responsible AI practices.
Understanding of security products focusing on IAM (Identity and Access Management).
