Position Summary

The Assistant Project Manager assists Project Managers on the Danforth Campus with supervising construction and renovation projects, assuring quality, code compliance and budget control on the project. They work with the Project Managers to develop scope and budgets, assist with managing and coordinating architectural and construction firms to deliver the projects, and review plans and specifications. They act as representatives of Facilities Planning and Management (FPM), working with governing agencies to ensure all regulations and building codes are followed by architects and contractors and inspect construction work for conformance to the university plans and specifications, assessing quality of work being performed.

Job Description

Primary Duties & Responsibilities:

• Assists Project Managers with representing and coordinating the relationship and work between the contractors and WashU.
• Reviews and approves shop drawings and reviews preliminary drawings and specifications for university compliance and departmental needs.
• Assists Project Managers to bring projects to completion within budget limitations.
• Monitors construction progress to assure compliance with schedule.
• Coordinates with the architectural and engineering staff on projects.
• Arranges shutdowns, tie-ins, hours when not in use, and occupancy with various departments.
• Assists Project Managers at all major construction meetings. 
• Assures conformance to plans and specifications and inspects projects for safety.
• Issues monthly status reports on progress of construction.

Job Location/Working Conditions

• Normal office environment.
• This position has the ability work a hybrid schedule of two days remote, three days onsite.

Physical Effort

• Typically sitting at desk or table.
• Requires travel on campus.

Salary Range

$65,900.00 - $112,700.00 / Annually

The salary range reflects base salaries paid for positions in a given job grade across the University. Individual rates within the range will be determined by factors including one's qualifications and performance, equity with others in the department, market rates for positions within the same grade and department budget.
