The Contra Costa County Library is a forward-looking department of the County with 26 community libraries serving as the pulse of their respective communities. The mission of Contra Costa County Library is "Bringing people and ideas together". Contra Costa County Library is the pulse of our community. The Library is looking to fill vacancies for Senior Library Literacy Assistants at various locations throughout the County.The eligible list established from this recruitment process will be valid for 6 months.

License Required: Possession of a valid California Motor Vehicle Operator's License. Out of state valid motor vehicle operator's license will be accepted during the application process.
Education: Possession of a Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with a major in education, speech pathology and audiology, psychology, library science, communications, humanities, social science, business, or behavioral science field.
Experience: One year of full-time experience or its equivalent in a literacy program or as a certificated teacher.
Substitution: Additional qualifying experience may be substituted for required education on a year for year basis up to a maximum of four years.
Desirable Qualifications:
1. Application Filing and Evaluation: Applicants will be required to complete a supplemental questionnaire at the time of application, applications will be evaluated to determine which candidates will move forward in the next phase of the recruitment process.
2. Online Interview: The oral interview will measure candidates' competencies as they relate to the job. In the oral interview, candidates must achieve an average passing score of 70% or higher on each of the oral interview competencies, as well as an overall passing score of 70% or higher. These may include, but are not limited to: Professional & Technical Expertise, Attention to Detail, Professional Integrity & Ethics, Writing, Oral Communication, Building & Maintaining Relationships, and Valuing Diversity. The online assessment is tentatively scheduled to take place via computer (remotely) between April 29 - May 4, 2025. (Weighted 100%)
The Human Resources Department may change the examination steps noted above in accordance with the Personnel Management Regulations and accepted selection practices.

CONVICTION HISTORY
After you receive a conditional job offer, you will be fingerprinted, and your fingerprints will be sent to the California Department of Justice (DOJ) and the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI). DISASTER SERVICE WORKER
All Contra Costa County employees are designated Disaster Service Workers through state and local law. Employment with the County requires the affirmation of a loyalty oath to this effect. Employees are required to complete all Disaster Service Worker-related training as assigned, and to return to work as ordered in the event of an emergency.
