Position Overview

East Hill Christian School (EHCS) seeks a dynamic, Christ-centered leader to serve as its next Head of School. The ideal candidate will be a strong communicator, passionate about Christian education, and an experienced leader with proven success in organizational growth and team development. EHCS is a not-for-profit, private, accredited Christian school situated in the historic East Hill community in Pensacola, Florida. Committed to Christian values, EHCS aims to foster academic excellence, spiritual growth, and holistic development.

The Head of School is regarded as the chief executive officer of the school and is charged with the responsibility for the operation of the school. He/she is operates the school according to the policies and philosophy formulated by the Board of Directors. He/she will articulate and promote the school’s mission with all constituencies. The Head of School’s responsibilities shall be concentrated in the areas of administration, development, and strategic planning. Depending on the current needs of the school, one area(s) might require more focus.

Key Responsibilities

Cultivate a positive, Christ-centered school culture.

• Be a person of prayer and Bible study 
• Provide spiritual and academic leadership of the school

Provide strategic leadership aligned with EHCS’s mission and vision.

• Prepare and submit plans annually for development programs in curriculum, building, equipment, and staffing as part of a strategic plan for the total development of the school
• Initiate new programs as needed and as approved by the Board
• Cultivate and solicit development efforts
• Communicate development plans to faculty, alumni, and other key constituents

Oversee academic excellence, operations, and financial management.

• Be responsible for the development and coordination of curriculum  Supervise the instructional process in a manner that will allow the teaching faculty to function freely within the realm of their job descriptions in order that students’ learning opportunities will be maximized
• Establish a program of prospective student interviews and testing
• Ensure that discipline is enforced and administered in accordance with applicable policies/procedures
• Develop an environment that is conducive to good learning
• Prepare an annual budget for the consideration of the Board, recommend a salary range for the faculty and staff, and approve expenditures within the approved budget

Partner closely with the Board, faculty, and staff to strengthen EHCS’s impact.

• Interpret the school operations to the Board and Board action to school personnel
• Attend all Board meetings and submit regular, accurate, and truthful reports on the status of the school

Engage with students, families, and the broader community, fostering strong relationships.

• Prepare the school calendar, plan and administer faculty and staff orientation, and meet regularly with school personnel and with the Board
• Work closely with the officers of the Parent-Teacher Association/Fellowship to implement programs that meet the needs of the school families and to encourage strong spiritual leadership within the organization
• Work closely with the Board and staff members in planning and carrying out an effective program of interpreting the school to its stakeholders

*In addition to the above areas of responsibility, the Head of School shall carry out such other duties as assigned by the Board.

Qualifications

• Deep, personal relationship with Jesus Christ and alignment with EHCS’s Statement of Faith
• Proven spiritual, moral, academic, and leadership qualities to direct the total ministry of the school
• Proven leadership experience, preferably in education or related fields
• Strong organizational, business, and financial management skills
• Excellent communication, collaboration, and team-building abilities
• Master’s degree required; Doctorate preferred (Education, Business, or related field)
• ACSI certification (or willingness to obtain)

*Qualifications may vary from the above requirements to such a degree as EHCS may determine is necessary and appropriate.
