The Dalton School, a progressive K-12 gender-inclusive school in Manhattan’s Upper East Side, is consistently recognized as one of the preeminent independent day schools in the nation. The Dalton School seeks a full-time Educational Technologist for grades K-3. The ideal candidate will demonstrate a passion for education, working with teachers and students, and working with a team of other dedicated educational technologists. This is a full-time, 12-month staff position reporting to the Director of the New Lab for Teaching and Learning. This position will primarily work with students in grades K-3 with the potential to interact with older students.

About the New Lab for Teaching and Learning (NLTL)

The New Lab for Teaching and Learning (NLTL), the school's dedicated educational and information technology department, has 12 members and plays a crucial role in innovative teaching and learning strategies. Through close collaboration and partnerships with all aspects of the Dalton community, the NLTL develops mission-driven applications and initiatives to support the educational goals of the Dalton Plan.

NLTL Department Mission

Ideas come to life in the New Lab for Teaching and Learning. We move Dalton forward by prioritizing the learner’s needs, pedagogy, and best practices within and beyond the context of technology. New Lab utilizes its holistic understanding of The Dalton Plan, the school’s community, and infrastructure to collaborate, connect, and support all members and to achieve purposeful, equitable, and innovative uses of curriculum and technology in an ever-evolving landscape.

Responsibilities:

  • Understand the school’s mission and technology vision and work with faculty to integrate technology that supports the mission/vision.
  • Incorporate the school’s equity and belonging values in all of your work.
  • Deliver and assist with Digital Life, innovative STEAM, and keyboarding curricula.
  • Develop and teach professional development for the 1:1 iPad initiative.
  • Collaborate with teachers to integrate technology into the curriculum appropriately.
  • Support faculty and staff technology competencies needed for classroom teaching or for the fulfillment of administrative duties.
  • Provide technology support for faculty, staff, and students.
  • Assist with New Faculty summer orientation training.
  • Assist with the start of school year tech prep.
  • Plan, deliver, and collaborate with the NLTL Collaborative Programs.
  • Participate in and support evening and online events as needed. (curriculum nights, admissions, etc.)
  • Work cooperatively with the Director and other department members to meet other needs of the School as directed.
  • Create and collaborate on programming for family outreach. (e.g. parent training and orientation)

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree required and prior experience as a classroom teacher, technology integrator, coordinator, or comparable role preferred.
  • Familiarity with modern technology tools and services for both inside and outside the classroom.
  • Demonstrated ability to blend technology with sound pedagogy.
  • Familiarity with Learning Management Systems.
  • Demonstrated commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging.
