What You Will Do

The Community Engagement Coordinator is a member of the BCNC Family Services team. Family Services strengthens immigrant families to overcome challenging issues through mental health support services, case management, educational workshops, and counseling. You will provide culturally competent and linguistically accessible behavioral and mental health support services and help Chinese-speaking immigrant families adjust to the United States. You will report directly to the Director of Family Services.

 

In this role, you will:

Community Engagement, Capacity Building, and Program Coordination:

  • Lead capacity-building initiatives and conduct training for community partners and BCNC employees on problem gambling prevention and related topics.
  • Plan and implement community design strategy workshops with consultants, facilitating engagement sessions for the broader community.
  • Coordinate and execute community, parent, and family engagement activities, such as parent education workshops, support groups, and other events. 

Partnership Development and Client Support:

  • Attend monthly meetings with consultants and community partners to align on project goals and capacity-building activities.
  • Build and maintain relationships with community organizations, schools, and stakeholders to foster collaboration and support service delivery.
  • Provide comprehensive, strength-based case management services, including assessments, goal-setting, and referrals for individuals and families.
  • Develop, evaluate, and monitor service goals, ensuring all documentation is accurate and complete. 
  • Facilitate family engagement activities, such as support groups, parent workshops, and consultations, to promote well-being and strengthen community connections. 


Data Collection, Reporting, and Outreach:

  • Assist with data collection, program evaluation, and reporting to track and assess program impact. 
  • Manage outreach materials and social media content (e.g., WeChat) to support program participation.
  • Perform administrative tasks to support community engagement and capacity-building efforts.

 

What We Look For

  • Bachelor’s degree in Public Health, Social Work, Nonprofit Management, Community Development, or a related field. A Master’s degree in a relevant field (e.g., MPH, MSW, Mental Health Counseling) is preferred.
  • Minimum 1-3 years of experience in community outreach, program coordination, or case management.
  • Experience working with immigrant populations, families, or individuals impacted by problem gambling, mental health issues, or other social services.
  • Experience in capacity building and providing training to community-based organizations is a plus.
  • Strong project management and organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to engage diverse stakeholders and community organizations.
  • Understanding of immigrant family issues and social service systems.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team.
  • Valid driver’s license and access to reliable transportation for travel between project sites. 
  • Professional working proficiency in writing, reading, and speaking in Cantonese or Mandarin Chinese is required.

Working Conditions

  • Must be available to work a flexible schedule and may require local travel during the workday.
  • Work is performed primarily in a standard work environment, including the operation of computer equipment, and physical demands associated with a traditional work setting, e.g., walking, standing, communicating, and other physical functions, as necessary.
