Android Developer

Location: Chicago IL (2 days per week)
Duration: 8 month contract + potential extensions

Top 5 Skill Sets Needed

1. Expertise in Jetpack Compose for modern declarative UI development.
2. Understanding of State Management in Compose (State, ViewModel, LiveData, Flow).
3. Proficiency in Kotlin Coroutines for handling asynchronous operations.
4. Working with Room Database for local persistence.
5. Working knowledge of Google Ad Manager a Plus

Job Summary:

• This is a new position.
• The business initiative is a result of a new initiative to provide fast internet access to customers onboard.

What is the length of the assignment?

• Approximately 8 months based on the current PI planning scope and work.
• Extension: Possible (requires more business clarity and commitment).

Work Details

Preferred Hours of Work:

• 40 hrs/week Monday to Friday, 9 AM to 5 PM.
• Work outside these hours may be required if there are production issues.
• Is this shift work? No.

Work Location(s):

• Willis Tower, Chicago 14th floor
• Arlington Heights NOC 1481 Shure Dr, Arlington Heights, IL (if needed).
• Hybrid Onsite at Willis on Tuesdays and Wednesdays.
• Hybrid Onsite at Willis (Tuesdays and Wednesdays).
• No travel outside of IL at the moment.
• Will they be reimbursed for travel? N/A

Interview:

• Video interview preferred, but in-person is preferred on Wednesdays if possible.
• One (1) interview will be anticipated
• Includes design review and CoderPad test during the call.
  • Need candidates with strong hands-on problem-solving abilities.
  • Ability to solve hands-on problems using CoderPad.

Description

• We are looking for a skilled Android Developer with expertise in Kotlin, Jetpack Compose (must-have), and GraphQL to join our innovative team.
• As an Android Developer, you will be responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining high-quality mobile applications for the Android ecosystem.
• You will work closely with cross-functional teams to create seamless user experiences while ensuring optimal app performance and scalability.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop & Maintain high-performance Android applications using Kotlin and Jetpack Compose.
• Implement GraphQL APIs to optimize data fetching and real-time interactions.
• Ensure Code Quality by writing clean, maintainable, and efficient code.
• Debug & Optimize applications for maximum speed, responsiveness, and scalability.
• Collaborate with UX/UI Designers to create intuitive and engaging user interfaces.
• Stay Updated with the latest Android development trends, Jetpack Compose enhancements, and GraphQL best practices.
• Work Cross-Functionally with product managers, backend developers, and QA teams to define and implement new features.
• Ensure Google Play Store Compliance by adhering to Android development guidelines.
• Conduct Testing & Troubleshooting including unit testing, UI testing, and performance analysis.
• Contribute to Technical Documentation and participate in code reviews for continuous improvement.

Required Qualifications & Skills:

• Proven experience as an Android Developer with a strong portfolio of published apps on the Google Play Store.
• Proficiency in Kotlin and Jetpack Compose (must-have).
• Experience with GraphQL API integration.
• Familiarity with Android frameworks such as Room, WorkManager, and LiveData.
• Solid understanding of Material Design principles and best UI/UX practices.
• Experience with RESTful APIs and third-party libraries.
• Strong understanding of version control systems (Git) and CI/CD pipelines.
• Knowledge of performance tuning, debugging, and memory management for Android apps.
• Ability to write unit and UI tests to ensure high application reliability.
• Familiarity with Agile methodologies and best practices.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with backend technologies and integrating GraphQL with Android applications.
• Knowledge of Cloud services for mobile app development.
